Pat Geraghty Memorial Service

The Maritime Union of Australia is in mourning after the passing of one of Australia’s great trade union leaders, former Seaman’s Union of Australia National Secretary - Pat Geraghty. Pat, a communist, was a proponent of peace and an opponent of racism. He played an integral role in South Africa’s anti-apartheid movement and closer to home he was a supporter of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander self-determination campaigns. He lead the SUA through some tremendous struggles and he will be sorely missed by his comrades at the Maritime Union of Australia and the wider domestic and international union movement.
